Product details
Unlike most cherries this tree does not flower in the spring time, choosing instead to display flowers which are borne sporadically from November through to March.
The flowers of Prunus x subhirtella Autumnalis Rosea are semi-double and fairly small, producing a subtle fluttering of pink flower; a welcome sight in the dark and gloomy winter months.
In the autumn time the foliage turns from a deep green to orange-yellow.
The parent of this tree is a favourite for providing winter interest, winning the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 following receiving the Award of Merit in 1960.
This pretty little tree remains small at maturity and forms a smart, rounded crown.
It is a great choice for gardens and like most cherries prefers a well drained soil; as such it is advised that heavy clay and water logger soils are avoided.
Prunus x subhirtella Autumnalis Rosea is a great selection of species to add some colour during the winter months.
This tree should be planted in a subtle position where it will be prominent in the winter time and compliment the rest of the planting scheme during the summer months.
Mature height: 3-7m
