Product details
Referred to as ‘McKSentry’ in the USA to remember its breeder, Mackay nurseries in Wisconsin, Tilia americana was first introduced into the UK way back in the mid 1700s and this recent clone is great for urban planting with a great pyramidal habit.
Lush large green leaves are fully grown by mid summer creating much needed shade to scorched urban streets and parks.
Tilia americana American Sentry will thrive on most free draining soils and can tolerate quite dry conditions when established.
It makes a large tree so is unsuitable for most garden environments but is a great candidate for parkland and estates.
Its large leaves turn to yellow in the autumn before falling in November.
Mature height 12-17m
