Product details

This narrow clonal selection was found in Illinois in 1974 from a batch or acorns and evidence points from the original plantings that it will only get to be a quarter wide as it is tall.

It is a Quercus robur Fastigiata x Quercus bicolor cross and when seen against a normal Quercus robur Fastigiata you can truly see the difference in its wonderfully healthy looking leaves which are green on top and more silvery green beneath.

Quercus Regal Prince prefers a free draining soil but its form means it can be accommodated within a garden space rather than be used just for parkland planting.

Its great summer foliage display turns orange yellow in the autumn before falling in November.

It is still a relative newcomer to the tree world but we expect to see a lot more of this planted over the following decades.

Mature height: 12-17m
