Product details

Betula pendula Tristis, known as the Weeping Birch, was introduced into the UK in the 1860’s and matures to be one of the most graceful pendulous trees available.

Often confused with Betula pendula Youngii which is a much smaller growing garden tree, Betula pendula Tristis can achieve the largest mature height out of all the Birch cultivations we stock, so is best planted in parkland or large gardens.

Betula pendula Tristis thrives on most free draining soils and develops the characteristic Silver Birch bark as it matures. Its twiggy branch network is particularly stunning in winter, especially if exposed to a hard frost which frames the canopy.

Mature height: 12-17m
