Product details
Aesculus hippocastanum Baumanii, known as the Double Flowering Horse Chestnut or Sterile Horse Chestnut, was discovered as a sport on a common Horse Chestnut in the 1820s.
A great and stately avenue tree, it had been sadly blighted by debilitating pests and diseases since 2005 making it a risky choice. This aside, Aesculus hippocastanum Baumanii thrives on any free draining soils.
I have seen kids chuck sticks up at mature specimens of this tree hoping for a reward of conkers which never come down as it is sterile.
Mature height: 20m+
