Acer palmatum Dissectum Garnet multi stem

 Acer palmatum Dissectum Garnet is a beautiful, purple, cut leaved version of Japanese Maple which won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002. Like all Japanese Maples this cultivar has deeply lobed leaves, and with this variety the leaves are very finely cut and deeply coloured purple, in the autumn, this foliage turns flame red.

To get the best from this tree it should be planted in a sunny aspect, as shade can reduce the brilliant purple colouring to more of a dark green. 

Like all Japanese Maples, this tree will thrive on moist, loamy, well drained soils and whilst it can be prone to scorch if the heat of the sun is too intense or indeed if subject to cold winds however this should not put you off of planting this stunning garden specimen.
